Gravity, the inaugural exhibition of the second phase of a youth experimental project, recently opened at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Art Museum. 

On the afternoon of November 2, 2023, the "Art Bridges: From Antwerp to Beijing and Back" student exhibition, jointly organized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, opened at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum. This exhibition marks the first collaborative student creative exchange activity between the two institutions and is a significant part of the global series of events celebrating the 360th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.

"Shanqian" is derived from the "Shanqian Zone" in archaeology, where early human settlements transitioned from a lifestyle of hunting and gathering to settled agriculture. This transition marked a crucial step in the development of complex societies and the rise of modern civilization.

On October 30, 2023, a delegation led by Mikhailo Xiey M. Ilyich from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin in Russia visited the Central Academy of Fine Arts. They engaged in discussions with CAFA President Lin Mao about cooperation between the two institutions in various areas, including teaching, research, artistic creation, exhibitions, and cultural exchange.

Of the many famed mountains that command enthralling views in China, Lushan Mountain, in Jiujiang of Jiangxi province, is one of great vitality and has cultivated rich cultures.

On October 14th, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, the "Chinese Memory: Photography and Sketches by Chilean Painter José Venturelli" exhibition, hosted by the China Association for Cultural Exchange with Foreign Countries, the National Art Museum of China, the Embassy of the Republic of Chile in China, and the José Venturelli Foundation, was unveiled to the audience. The exhibition features more than 40 photography and sketches from the collection of the José Venturelli Foundation, as well as some artworks from the National Art Museum of China. It is divided into three sections: "José Venturelli and the Chinese Cultural Scene," "The Venturelli Couple and Chinese Culture," and "Venturelli's Sketches during His Time in China." Through these sections, the exhibition showcases the historical memories and cultural exchanges between China and Chile, rooted in cultural friendship, and narrates the stories of friendly exchanges between China and Chile that originated from culture.

In his Complete Essays on Shanshui Paintings, 12th-century artist and theorist Han Zhuo wrote about how painters of classical Chinese landscapes could portray people's activities depending on the varying four seasons.

The "Cross Connections 2024 International Exhibition & Competition of Visual Communication Design & Emerging Media Design" is a global event that showcases the creative works of students and faculty from higher education institutions worldwide.

The cute, cuddly "auspicious rabbit" figure as the first mascot for the “Happy Chinese New Year” celebrations, a brand program of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, has arguably been an international star. The mascot travelled overseas to various countries, endearing itself to politicians and celebrities, and leaping into countless hearts worldwide.

"I believe that art has the power to change and influence things and hopefully my work does too," an up-and-coming Chinese artist Cong Yunfeng told the Global Times recently. His mural works, Conversion of the Five Hundreds Bandits, as the strongly response to the controversial blockbuster exhibition, China's hidden century, which took placed at the British Museum until October 8.

In Night Walk, preeminent painter Yu Hong weaves together her personal experiences and memories with significant collective shifts in contemporary China, portraying epochal transformation within sprawling compositions. In six large-scale, richly detailed paintings and three small studies of hands, Yu Hong evokes classical art historical motifs drawn from a variety of sources, including Théodore Géricault’s The Raft of the Medusa (1818–19), Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s The Blind Leading the Blind (1568), Edvard Munch’s The Scream (1893), El Greco’s The Crucifixion (1597–1600), and others, as well as traditional Chinese painting tropes from the culture’s many-centuries-long heritage.

Pace is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Sui Jianguo at its Hong Kong Gallery. On view from September 21 to October 26, the show will spotlight eight sculptures and 10 works on paper created by the artist this year.

On September 17, 2023, the "Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) Series White Papers" press release was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi. Nine white papers, including "Large Model Technology," "AI+Art," "Principles of Artificial Intelligence," "Risks, Challenges, and Governance of Digital Society," "Deep Learning," "Cognitive Computing," "Smart Grid," "Educational Applications of Large Language Models," and "Intelligent Collaborative Control & Artificial Intelligence" were collectively unveiled at the event.

On September 18, 2023, President Lin Mao met with Professor Jenny Watling, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International at Manchester Metropolitan University, and her delegation, who were visiting. Both parties exchanged views on subjects such as academic development and future cooperation.

On September 16, 2023, the "Brushstrokes, Exposure, Algorithms - Photography Art Exhibition from CAFA" was inaugurated at the Taoxichuan Art Museum of CAFA, co-hosted by CAFA and Jingdezhen Tao Cultural Tourism Holdings Group. The exhibition was jointly organized by the School of Experimental Art and SCI-THEC Art of CAFA, Jingdezhen Taoyi Cultural Development Co., Ltd., and the Taoxichuan Art Museum of CAFA.

On the afternoon of September 15, 2023, the "Ocean Sensors - Ocean-themed Popular Science Art Exhibition" opened at CAFA Museum. The exhibition was jointly organized by the School of Experimental Art and Sci-Tech Art and  the Institute of Science and Technology Arts of CAFA, the National Key Laboratory of Nearshore Marine Environmental Science, Xiamen University College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University College of the Environment and Ecology, Xiamen University Research Vessel Operation Management Center, Fujian-Taiwan Strait Marine Ecosystem National Field Science Observation Research Station, and 70.8 Ocean Media Laboratory.

In the morning of September 12, 2023, Professor Sun Hyun Kim from Yonsei University Wonju College of Medicine in South Korea, along with a delegation, visited the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) to engage in academic exchange with faculty and students from Art Therapy program of the School of Arts Management and Education.

On the afternoon of September 11, Professor Frédéric Ogée from Université Paris Cité gave the lecture “Sociability and Portraiture in British Art from William Hogarth to Thomas Lawrence, 1730-1830” at the Red Chair Hall. Professor Ogée is a renowned scholar in the field of eighteenth-century British literature and art. The lecture, an event of the “Liberal Arts Lecture Hall” series of the School of Humanities, was hosted by Zheng Yikan, with Han Ying as coordinator and Xie Tao as interpreter.

On the afternoon of September 8, 2023, a delegation consisting of Rem Koolhaas, founding partner of OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), honorary professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and guest professor; Stephan Petermann, project director at OMA, guest professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts; and Yao Dongmei, former OMA Beijing director, project manager for the CCTV Building, and guest professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, visited our institution.

Combination and Innovation - 2023 Central Academy of Fine Arts  Exhibition of Tutor’s Artworks opens on September 9, 2023, at the Poly Art Museum. This exhibition is jointly organized by the Poly Art Museum, the Graduate School and the Teacher Development Center of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. It will feature nearly 100 artworks by 20 doctoral supervisors from the Graduate School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts(CAFA).
