    CAFA Sculpture Department Creates a Site-Specific Public Artwork in Tribute to the People

    On October 18, the unveiling ceremony for The Spirit of Hami, a site-specific public art project created by the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), was held at the square in front of Hami Railway Station in Xinjiang. On the same day, the symposium Urban Public Art and Urban Renewal was also convened.

    Digital Projects from CAFA Presented at UNFRAMED Contemporary Art Exhibition in Pisa, Italy

    On September 19, 2025, the UNFRAMED Contemporary Art Exhibition officially opened at Bastione del Parlascio, a historic building in Pisa, Italy. Hosted by the Pisa Municipal Tourism and Commerce Bureau, supported by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) of China and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze as academic organizers, the exhibition is co-organized by the cultural organization EstOvestEst-APS and OEOITALIA. The exhibition is co-sponsored by le Farmacie Comunali (Pisa Municipal Pharmacies), Acque SpA (Tuscany Water Service Joint-Stock Company), and the Italian Chinese Enterprise Association.

    “A Heroic Ode to China” carries on in the retrospective of Xu Xingzhi

    Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War, “A Heroic Ode to China — A Retrospective Exhibition of Xu Xingzhi’s Artistic Achievements” was jointly organized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the China Artists Association. Featuring over 400 exhibits, it reviews the oeuvre of Prof. Xu Xingzhi by showcasing his artistic achievements covering films, paintings, literature, theater, and art theory.

    On September 14, CAFAM unveiled “Energy and Civilization: Science & Art · Fusion Future”, the first museum-level exhibition themed on “controllable nuclear fusion” in China. Jointly launched by the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, and the Hefei Municipal People’s Government, the exhibition brings together top scientists in the field of nuclear fusion and leading figures in the art circle.

    CAFA Promoting Cultural and Artistic Education Exchanges and Cooperation Among China, Japan, and ROK

    On August 12, 2025, the China-Japan-ROK Forum on Culture, Arts and Education was successfully held in Huzhou city,Zhejiang Province. This forum, an important international cultural exchange event, was hosted by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, academically supported by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and organized by the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism. As the academic support unit, CAFA deeply participated in all aspects of the forum, making significant contributions to advancing cultural and artistic education exchanges and cooperation among the three countries.

    Wu Jian'an's First Solo Exhibition in South America Opens in Peru: Participants from Across the Country Reunite in 500 Brushstrokes: An Abstract Portrait

    On July 9 (local time), 500 Brushstrokes: An Abstract Portrait of Peru ("500 TRAZOS: UN RETRATO ABSTRACTO DEL PERÚ") officially opened at the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Peru’s foremost art museum. As Wu Jian’an’s first solo exhibition in South America, the show centers on the artist’s latest monumental work from 2024–2025: 500 Brushstrokes for Peru, a 12-meter-long and 5-meter-high ink and mixed-media paper-cut collage. The work brings together the bodily traces of 459 residents of Peru from diverse backgrounds—spanning gender, age, class, geography, language, and culture.

    CAFA Art Museum unveiled “Interflowing Artscapes: CAFAM International Exchange Research Exhibition from the Collection” on July 18, 2025 in Beijing. A total of 244 (sets) works by over 133 international artists selected from the Collection of CAFAM are open to the public for the first time. The exhibition project was selected as one of 2025 National Exhibition Season of Art Museums’ Brilliant Collections Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
