View of Eerawai: A Sound Art Concert at CAFAM
Integrating multiple media with environmental elements, "Echoes of a Voyage" is a featured program by Lyu Zhi-Qiang, a driver and owner of an old Jetta car, DJ and sound collector, as well as a teacher who imparts "principles" at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Lyu presented a concert themed on "Eerawai" at CAFA Art Museum on March 18, through which he invited visitors to immerse themselves in a sensory journey woven from light, shadow and sound.

A Guided Tour of Echoes of a Voyage
He combines ancient perspective techniques with the rulers, compasses, and ropes of craftsmen to repeatedly carry out hands-on spatial surveying. Intricate musical arrangements are applied in his work to construct a temporary space open to the public, where the audience was invited to become the "I" within this field, that is, the subject of experience.

Exhibition View of Echoes of a Voyage
Curator Wang Wen-Ting introduced at the opening ceremony that "Echoes of a Voyage" as Lyu Zhi-Qiang's solo project in EXPAND+CURATE=ECURATE Young Experimental Project Space, received the support from CAFA Young Faculty Seed Program. It integrates sound, painting, ready-made objects, installation, and environmental elements, spanning both visual and auditory dimensions. It demonstrates how the multiple identities of an individual in contemporary life escape from a fragmented state in a post-historical era, which can be reshaped through the cyclical and rotating structures of loops in electronic music, thereby reconstructing personal experiences and achieving individualized historical narration.

Curator Wang Wen-Ting (right) and Lyu Zhi-Qiang (left) respectively spoke at the opening ceremony.
On the one hand, the multiple identity map of the artist is clearly presented in the exhibition; on the other hand, this presentation of multiple identities adopts a low-key, yet restrained, de-dramatized theatrical strategy. Attendees are invited to join a journey wherein every fragment of experience and memory shared by the artist becomes part of public experiences and memories, and maybe, at a moment when the "instantaneous" and the "eternal" suddenly coincide, which may open up new possibilities to reshape one's own value and historical narrative.
