Vice Minister of Culture of Brazil Cassius Antônio da Rosa Visits the Central Academy of Fine Arts

On December 10, 2025, Cassius Antônio da Rosa, Vice Minister of Culture of Brazil, led a delegation to visit the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). The visit took place on the eve of the launch of the “China–Brazil Year of Culture 2026,” marking an important moment for bilateral cultural exchange and laying a solid foundation for deepening cultural and artistic collaboration between the two sides. Xu Yang, Secretary of the Party Committee of CAFA, held in-depth discussions with Vice Minister da Rosa on advancing cultural and artistic cooperation under the framework of the China–Brazil Year of Culture.

Secretary Xu Yang extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He recalled his previous visit to Brazil, noting the country’s vibrant, diverse, and open cultural landscape, as well as its significant influence on the global art scene. He emphasized that the 2026 China–Brazil Year of Culture presents new opportunities for the two sides to jointly develop high-quality cultural programs. CAFA, he said, is ready to leverage its academic strengths and disciplinary resources to engage in deeper and broader collaboration with Brazil—particularly in exhibitions, arts education, and youth exchange—to foster mutual learning between the two cultures and strengthen people-to-people bonds.

Vice Minister da Rosa introduced the preparatory work carried out by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture for the upcoming cultural year. He stressed that this visit is not only a new starting point for bilateral cooperation but also an important step toward achieving substantive outcomes during the cultural year. Brazil looks forward to establishing long-term and institutionalized cooperation with CAFA in areas such as cultural exchange and arts education, and hopes to continue advancing China–Brazil cultural relations with support from the Brazilian Embassy in China.

Marcos Galvão, Ambassador of Brazil to China, attended the meeting. Wang Chuan, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Jin Jun, Director of CAFA Art Museum, also participated in the discussions.
