CAFA Promoting Cultural and Artistic Education Exchanges and Cooperation Among China, Japan, and ROK

On August 12, 2025, the China-Japan-ROK Forum on Culture, Arts and Education was successfully held in Huzhou city,Zhejiang Province. This forum, an important international cultural exchange event, was hosted by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, academically supported by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and organized by the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism. As the academic support unit, CAFA deeply participated in all aspects of the forum, making significant contributions to advancing cultural and artistic education exchanges and cooperation among the three countries.

Wang Xiaolin, Deputy Party Secretary of CAFA, delivered a speech on behalf of Chinese experts attending the forum and gave a keynote address entitled "A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step – The Excellent Cultivation Program for Chinese Young Artists". She introduced the development and future prospects of the program and formally invited art institutions and young artistic talents from Japan and ROK to participate in the initiative, aiming to jointly promote the prosperity of cultural and artistic education in China, Japan, and ROK and inject new vitality into the building of "Cultural City of East Asia". Professor Lin Cunzhen, Vice Dean of the School of Design at CAFA, and Professor Wang Hongwei from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, delivered keynote speeches at the forum on topics such as joint construction of cultural brands and enhancement of international influence, and cooperation and development of cultural IP industries, respectively.

The official logo of the Year of China-Japan- ROK Cultural Exchange used at the forum was created under the guidance of Professor Wu Fan from the School of Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts, with the participation of several graduate students (Chai Tianzi, Liang Xiao, Wei Xiangmin, Wu Dan) and co-produced by young people from Japan and ROK. It was officially released at the opening ceremony of the Year of China-Japan- ROK Cultural Exchange 2025-2026 held in Tokyo, Japan on April 14, 2025. In the logo, petals of three types of flowers bloom together from a concentric center, symbolizing the harmonious integration of the three countries' cultures, which jointly radiate beautiful brilliance. Through the Exchange Year, it is expected that people will better understand each other's cultures, and the friendship between the three countries will flourish like these flowers, blooming vividly and enduringly.

Event Background
The China-Japan-ROK Forum on Culture, Arts and Education is based on the spirit of the China-Japan- ROK Culture Ministers' Meeting. Launched in 2013, it is hosted on a rotating basis by the three countries, aiming to further promote communication, exchanges and pragmatic cooperation among cultural, artistic and educational circles of the three countries, and jointly explore new trends, paths and cooperation in the development of cultural and artistic education.

 

With the theme of "Integration · Co-creation · Sharing: Promoting Pragmatic Cooperation among Cultural City of East Asia", the 2025 China-Japan-ROK Forum on Culture, Arts and Education invited experts and scholars from cultural, artistic and educational circles of the three countries to discuss the positive role of cultural and artistic education in promoting cultural of East Asian prosperity, enhancing cultural identity and facilitating mutual learning among civilizations, as well as advancing pragmatic cooperation in the field of cultural and artistic education among the three countries.
