On March 14, 2023, the Belgian Ambassador to China, Jan HOOGMARTENS, and Counsellor Johan VAN HOVE, visited the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China to discuss and exchange ideas on strengthening cooperation in the cultural and artistic fields.
President Fan Di'an welcomed Ambassador Hoogmartens' visit and introduced the achievements in cultural and artistic exchange activities between China and Belgium since the turn of the century. He noted that there is a good foundation for communication in the visual arts field between China and Belgium and expressed the hope that both sides can continue this tradition of exchange, further enhance cooperation, promote collaboration between art schools and museums of the two countries, showcase outstanding artists, and promote the development of diverse and integrated art.
Ambassador Hoogmartens highly praised the contributions made by the Central Academy of Fine Arts in talent cultivation and international cultural communication. He also expressed a high degree of interest in the development of contemporary cultural and artistic industries in China. He noted that both sides are highly consistent in promoting cultural and artistic exchange between China and Belgium and hoped to further strengthen communication, tap into cooperation potential, and expand new areas of cooperation, bringing new vitality to emerging art fields.
After the meeting, Ambassador Hoogmartens and Counsellor Feng Yunhan visited the campus of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the CAFA Art Museum. They were accompanied by Vice President Qiu Zhijie, Mr. Wang Chuan, the Director of the International Office, Mr.Zhang Zikang the Director of the Art Museum, Mr. Feng Mengbo, Vice Dean of the School of Experimental Art and Technology, Ms.Wei Yan and Mr. Yang Xi, Deputy Directors of the International Office .
